Meaning- (1) Suspended actions.
(2) Condition in which legal ownership of an estate has not been established.

Uses of first meaning-
  •          The sentence was held in abeyance until more proof could be obtained.
  •          Mark was told that the building project would be held in abeyance until spring.

Uses of Second meaning-
  •          The uncertain abeyance of her father ‘s property caused a great deal of anxiety for him; so, the decision of the judge is considered to be important.
