                               INUNDATE (Verb)



Meaning- 1) to cause someone or something to get large amount of things that must be dealt with
                       2) to flood or to cover completely with water

Mnemonic trick- inundate contains word date. Along with date it contains number of words like un and in. Too many things given to someone that must be dealt with on same date. Therefore, inundate means to assign lots of work to someone or to flood.

Synonym- OVERWHELM

Uses-
  •          He was inundated with a number of phone calls.
  •          Yesterday, I was inundated with work. Did you see the piles of paperwork flooding my desk?
  • ·        The heavy rain inundated building’ s basement so much that water had to be pumped out.
