                                  INTRANSIGENT (Adj.)



Meaning- stubbornly or unreasonably refusing even to consider changing a decision or an attitude or refusing to compromise.

Explanation- trans means across or beyond. Intransigent is used for a person who is unreasonably refusing to move across. It means a person who refuses to compromise or who refuses to change his mind.

Synonym- IMMOVABLE, OBSTINATE, MULISH, OBDURATE, OPINIONATED, PERTINACIOUS, STUBBORN, UNCOMPROMISING

Uses-
  •          Union claims that the management continues to maintain an intransigent position.
  •          He has remained intransigent in his opposition to the proposal.
  •          The intransigent majority refused to listen to a last eloquent appeal and they passed a vote of censure.
