                        2) A state of affairs demanding much effort or expense.

Mnemonic trick- The word exigency can be memorized by thinking that it is made up of two words ‘oxygen’ and ‘emergency’. In exigency, there is an emergency for oxygen. Therefore, exigency means a state of affairs that makes urgent demands or that needs immediate action.
