Meaning- very strong
disapproval or criticism of a person or thing especially by a large number of
people.
Mnemonic trick- The word ‘opprobrium’ contains
word ‘opprob’ and ‘rium’. ‘opprob’ sounds similar to approve and ‘rium’ sounds
similar to ‘rum’. If members of censor board approve something after drinking
rum, then opprobrium will be heaped on them.
