                               MALINGER (verb)



Meaning- to pretend to be sick or injured in order to avoid doing work or in order to gain sympathy

Mnemonic trick- The word malinger contains two words mal and inger. mal sounds similar to mall and inger sounds similar to injured. Salma malingered by saying that she got injured in mall and tried to avoid doing work.



Synonym- SHIRK

Uses-
  •          Is he really ill or just malingering?
  •          His boss suspected him of malingering because of his frequent absences from work.
  •          If Rahul tries to malinger when he is going to school, his parents will allow him to stay home; however, he has to stay in bed all day.
  •          Do you by chance have a neurotic friend who is so lazy that he often tends to malinger?
