                                                                 OBVIATE (Verb)

Meaning- 1) to make (something) no longer necessary.
                       2) to prevent or avoid (something).

Mnemonic trick- The word obviate contains word ‘ate’. He ate medicine and obviated the disease. Therefore, obviate means to prevent or avoid (something) or to make (something) no longer necessary.

Synonym- AVERT, FORESTALL, PRECLUDE

Uses-
  •          Because joe and his family were going on their vacation the following day, he decided to obviate the possibility of running out of gas by going to the station and getting as much fuel as possible for his car before leaving.
  •         Jack decided to obviate the problem of a plague of insects in his kitchen by keeping it as clean as possible.
