            PREROGATIVE (OR PERQUISITE) (Noun)

Meaning- a right or advantage belonging to a particular person or group because of their importance or social position.

Mnemonic trick- The word prerogative is made up of two words ‘president’ and ‘interrogative’. President has the prerogative to grant clemency to the convict, nobody can interrogate president. Hence prerogative means special privilege.

Synonym- PRIVILEGE, APPANAGE

Uses-
  •          Skiing used to be the prerogative of the rich, but now a far wider range of people do it.
  •          Constitutional changes are exclusively the prerogative of the parliament.
  •          Some wealthy people believe that political power is their prerogative.
