                              COGENT (Adj.)
Meaning- Describes an argument or reason etc. that is clearly expressed and persuasive.

Mnemonic trick- The word cogent can be memorized by thinking that it is made up of two words ‘company’ and ‘agent’. Agents of the company know cogent methods of convincing us. Therefore, cogent means convincing or persuasive.

Synonym- CONVINCING, PERSUASIVE, SATISFYING

  • She put forward some cogent reasons.
  • The spokesperson made his points with cogency and force.
  • There were perfectly cogent reasons.
  • The results of the DNA fingerprinting were the most cogent evidence for acquittal.
